Archive Fever Friday: TIFF Film Reference Library

LOCATION: Film Reference Library, 4th Floor, TIFF Bell Lightbox (350 King St W)
DATE: April 28, 2023
TIME: 4:00pm – 5:15pm

Dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Canadian cinema heritage, the Film Reference Library (FRL) provides access to extensive and non-circulating resources and Special Collections to support all aspects of film research, programming, and screenwriting.

Join us for an exclusive tour of the Film Reference Library with Natania Sherman, Library Collections and Services Manager, to get an overview of their preservation initiatives with FIAF and Telefilm, rare resources on Canadian and Toronto film productions, as well as special items related to the collections of Mary Pickford, Atom Egoyan, and David Snider.

Additionally, their current exhibition The Past in Play will be on display featuring objects and documents from the TIFF Film Reference Library’s Guy Maddin, Edith Nadajewski, Patricia Rozema, and David Cronenberg Collections.

Archive Fever Friday is an ongoing tour of Film and Media archives in Toronto that seeks to expand research horizons and encourage work with local film and media materials by forging ties among students, scholars, artists, and archivists in the Toronto community.

Followed by a social (5:30-6:30pm) to continue the conversation at Beertown Public House (125 Wellington St). Snacks will be provided.

Organized in collaboration with Archive/Counter-Archive
