The Toronto Film and Media Seminar gathers film and media arts faculty and graduate students from Southern Ontario for events throughout the academic calendar that promote scholarly discussion.
We are committed to providing a forum for emerging and established scholars to share their work.
Recently at TFMS:
The goals of the seminar are:
• Encouraging intellectual and collegial discussion among the Cinema and Media Studies scholars in the region
• Encouraging in-depth scholarly and critical debate
• Showcasing diverse research methodologies and research fields that address a wide range of cinematic media (film, television, video, new media, and other forms of moving image and sound)
• Aiming to model stimulating and professional academic discourse for graduate students entering the field
Ready to participate?
TFMS events include seminars, archive visits, graduate student mixers, and "crossing the finish line" presentations, highlighting the work of freshly minted and graduating doctoral students. Our seminars welcome graduate students, post-doctoral students, faculty members from both Ontario-based and international institutions, curators, practitioners, and experts.
